MIT continues to be the world's top-ranked university
Massachusetts Institute of Technology has been crowned the world's best university for the seventh consecutive year, the QS World University Rankings released today. The QS rankings cover more than one thousand colleges and universities from around the world. The QS World University Rankings are the leading source of comparative data on universities and colleges. The MIT continues to be the world's top university in 2022, breaking the previous record for the most consecutive years in a row.
The rankings of MIT have shown its academic excellence. The university has topped the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World rankings for the past nine years and has ranked in the top five of Time Higher Education for eight years. Among its recent achievements, MIT ranks as the world's top university for Graduate Employability. And MIT's Sloan School of Management has been named the world's fifth best graduate school by the QS Global MBA rankings and the US News and World Report. In addition, the MIT Sloan School of Management ranked #5 in the US News and World Rankings for 2022.
As a result of the U.S. News & World Report rankings, the US continues to outrank its international rivals. MIT remains the world's top university for the eighth year in a row, while the University of California, Berkeley dropped from seventh to eighth place. California Institute of Technology and the Polytechnic University of Milan dropped from ninth to 10th place, while the University of Washington, Seattle, and Cambridge University each rose one spot.
MIT is the world's top-ranked university in the rankings and it will remain so until the end of this century. The rankings, produced by the QS, are based on six indicators. Academic Reputation measures the impact of research output, while Employer Reputation measures the university's employability. The Faculty Per Student Ratio measures the teaching capacity, while the International Faculty Ratio measures international collaboration and knowledge transfer.
Despite the increasing global competition, the US higher education system is still outstanding. American universities continue to lead the world in research and practical innovation. More than half of the world's top-ranked university departments are located in the US. In addition, MIT is ranked number one in philosophy, and Colorado School of Mines is ranked first in mineral and mining engineering. Similarly, the University of Toronto has 46 entries in the top-50.
China has the highest number of ranked university programmes. With seven71, China has the most ranked university programmes. In comparison, the United Kingdom and the US have only 1,225 and 2,571 programmes. Of the 38 Asian universities, only MIT remains top-ranked in law, while National University of Singapore is ranked No. 10. In continental Europe, the highest-ranked university is the ETH Zurich, which has been ranked No. 1 for 15 years in a row.
TU ranked among the top 4% of universities globally for employability
The Technical University of Munich has climbed to the first spot in the world in the QS Global University Employability Ranking, moving from 171st place to No. 3 in ASEAN. This new ranking is based on surveys of managers in 22 countries who voted for the most employable graduates. The report is based on data gathered from more than 32,000 graduate interviews.
The QS Graduate Employability Rankings are an independent, global study of university work. It rates universities on their partnerships with businesses, the percentage of sectoral leaders among their alumni, and their graduate employment rate. TU is the only British university to make the top ten in this report. Only MIT and Cambridge are in the top twenty. The University of London ranked 24th in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings.
TU has achieved high placement in the university best world rankings and is considered one of the best public universities in the U.S. in terms of inclusive excellence. TU also ranks high in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, with an overall ranking of 30 in the world and tops in gender equality. This list is based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which are aimed at ensuring a more prosperous and equitable world for all.
